GAMBLERS' CURSE
There is an aspect in astrology that I term the 'gambler's curse'. We all experience this at some time in our lives when either Jupiter or Pluto by transit
moves to right angle or opposition to the natal planet positions. This is when you are likely to 'reach for the stars' and yes, sometimes it does work out well.
At other times however, the compulsion to act without restraint leads to self-sabotage. The financial consequences can be considerable. Obviously much depends on your personal chart, how the natal
planet fits in to the overall picture - and the overall planetary geometry of the time.
Geocentrically Jupiter was at right angle to Pluto on Thursday May 18th - with, for a few hours, the Moon joining Jupiter and amplifying the effect. Not everyone will have tuned in to this planetary chord but those who did, may remember that as a decisive period when they
felt tempted to 'play with the Gods'.
Globally, this was an important day: The on-going struggle in Ukraine reached a significant turning point with discussions focusing on the rising food costs associated with the conflict. Elsewhere, in Italy, floods devastated ancient villages and towns caused millions of euros worth of damages. US stock markets appeared
oblivious closing sharply higher (Jupiter) following positive developments on the debt ceiling negotiations (Pluto). It is fascinating to note that the 'deadline' date for agreement is 30 June - the very day when the two planets are at exact right angle if viewed heliocentrically.
The present geocentric cycle began with their conjunction in 2020. The cycle
before that began in 2007, and reached significant turning point in 2010, 2013 and 2017. Within months of each, the US debt ceiling was raised, and one might wonder if this 3 year rhythm will continue indefinitely.
Thankfully there are other cycles to consider: the planets move on and before the next Full Moon (July 3rd), Jupiter will make positive aspect to Saturn. In the days leading up to the
exactitude of this aspect on June 19th, constructive dialogue and concerted effort implies determination to find solutions.
The probability of reaching agreement is high and will surely be a factor in US indices strengthening in the run up to the end of June. So yes, it is possible that we will see new highs both in the US and elsewhere. The big question is
always: 'when is the next 'crash' coming'?
Ignoring - for now -the near inevitable roller coaster that the fourth quarter of the year will bring, arguably the most difficult financial period on the horizon is Chiron's alignment with the Lunar Node in February 2024 which may be - as was the case with a similar
aspect in 1969, indicative of minor US recession.
GOLD
More immediately, we should focus attention on Venus' extended stay in Leo. There is a myth that the
price of gold is high when Venus moves through Leo. As may be seen from this seasonality graph (courtesy of Optuma software), this is far from the case.
