Dear Fellow Star-gazers,

Happy Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon!

At just 2 minutes of arc away from 15 degrees of the Fixed signs i.e. halfway between an equinox and solstice and an important 'Gann' degree, this is no 'ordinary' lunar eclipse and should pack a punch. With Uranus not far from this axis, the anticipated shake-up/collapse in the banking world is underway. It is poetic - given Pluto's arrival in Aquarius - that it was a bank with an Aquarius name (First Republic) that was rescued last month. There will likely be another rescue needed in May, but a bigger one in late July. The latter might involve a national bank as Pluto will have returned to Capricorn. 

OPTUMA
It has been suggested that between eclipses you are offered the opportunity to look into another world. I certainly experienced that as Mercury stationed on April 21st when I met with Mathew Verdouw, owner of the brilliant Optuma software programme. It is 10 years since we last met face to face, and it was a pleasure to give him an update on my research utilising Optuma and its brilliant back-testing option, and to tell him of the growing number of interested students. EQUITIES
We discussed equities - of course - and are clear that a boom time may be ahead. Even so, we need to get past a few bumps in the road. I still expect a decline and buying opportunity within weeks. That fall could still come - either at today's lunation or, perhaps more likely, as Jupiter crosses into Taurus on May 17th (in 2011, the last time Jupiter made this ingress, most indices fell sharply). However, the prankster planet (Mercury) has outwitted many forecasters who thought that a greater reversal of trend would occur last month. 

Taurus is also linked to banking and although some will not survive, it is as likely that those who are embracing the 'new' world of banking (i.e including new assets such as crypto and digital currencies) will thrive.

Research as shown that in the days following a solar storm that indices tend to decline. This was certainly true in the days following the major solar event on April 23rd. 

May 17th, 2023 is notable for Jupiter's Taurus ingress, but is also the birthdate for the New York Stock Exchange. Whatever time of day you choose for its 'natal' chart, the fact is that its solar return includes Jupiter in contra-parallel aspect with Saturn. This again draws attention to banking and underlines the high probability of the need for government support as some banks buckle under strain. This same planetary picture suggests growing difficulties in bond markets and rumblings of potential collapse. 
Yet with this cosmic gear change comes the potential for those sectors associated with Taurus to see marked growth. It is often suggested that rather than be ruled by Venus, that Taurus is perhaps more closely linked to earth. Certainly, I think that businesses focused on natural products will do well in this coming year.

DRUMS OF WAR

The Sudanese conflict has dominated news bulletins pushing Russia and Ukraine strife down the news agenda whilst the threat of action between China and Taiwan has taken third place. It may be that this 'order' changes this weekend.

Mid-May, a formidable T-square involving Jupiter, Pluto and Haumea coincides with Mars' opposition to Pluto within orb as the Moon returns to the position of the Solar Eclipse. It is to be hoped that positive aspects between Venus and Jupiter will offset tension, but the total planetary picture does not spell peace with aspects occurring in the few days between May 21st and 23rd suggesting rising tension.

Pluto's two-decade journey through Aquarius has only just begun.  It last visited this area of the zodiac between 1778 and 1798: a period that marked the birth of democracy, the American and French Revolutions and the Industrial Revolution. An earlier period in the 16th century saw the Protestant Reformation, the Copernican Revolution, the exploration of the New World and the rise of humanism. 

Clearly humankind experiences this planetary vibration as a time of fast-moving development - often accompanied by drums of war but bringing accelerated waves of scientific thinking. Exciting times lie ahead.

OUR COTTAGE HOSPITAL

I do feel that we should re-name our home which has become more like a cottage hospital. As it seems most unlikely that Michael will ever use the stairs again, his music room has been converted into a now essential second office. So far, he is defying the medics and although he now requires the use of hoists, he is, as always, in good spirits and has discovered a love of chocolate! ( I may take out shares in Terry's chocolate orange at this rate). As always, I am so very grateful for your good wishes and support without which I am sure that we would not be enjoying any quality time whatsoever.
