Dear Fellow Stargazers
Happy Full Moon! And Happy New Year
If your 2023 has got off to a slow start, make the most of the New Moon on January 21st (the Chinese New Year). Coincidentally, all the regular planets will then appear in forward motion: i.e. no retrograde Mercury or Mars! (Geminis especially should feel relief and hopefully take steps on the road to progress).
Also on January 21st, Jupiter reaches perihelion as the Moon arrives at perigee and reasonable to expect that not only the New Year celebrations across much of Asia will dominate news: excess of all kinds seems more likely
than not.
WAR
Escalation of the war in Ukraine is a horrific possibility. You may remember that the invasion began
as Venus and Mars began their cycle. These two planets reach critical phase at the next Full Moon (February 5th). The possibility of that conflict widening cannot, and should not, be ignored. Of course ,it is to be hoped that Jupiter's arrival in Earthy Taurus mid-May will bring peace and stability but, given that Jupiter will be at right angle to Pluto and oppose Haumea, I have doubts.
I have some concern that with Mars' direct station activating President Xi's of China natal Jupiter position mid-January, that the world will have concern
about decisions taken in that country too. These though may be linked to something more:
Whilst some planets change signs every year, Pluto, which takes a quarter of a millennium to circle the zodiac, does so only every couple of decades. You may remember that its entry into Capricorn in 2007/8 coincided with the global financial crisis.
It's entry into Aquarius in March should be no less dramatic. That same month, Saturn, which moves sign approximately every thirty months, moves into Pisces. Saturn 'rules' administration and it would be wise to anticipate some
rule tightening - especially where currencies (cryptos especially) are concerned.
SHIFT
Everyone should feel a shift in
global financial matters - quite possibly culminating in dramatic activity on April 11th. This - and much more - will be explored in depth in the now regular monthly financial events. If you would like to register and haven't yet received an invitation to the event on Sunday January 22nd, please email office@cityscopes.com. The recording and accompanying pdf are sent out the following day in case you can't attend the live event.
I have some concern for trading levels on Monday January 23rd. Of course, it could be a
'hangover' effect that gives rise to a low close in Wall Street that day.
Mercury reaches maximum western elongation on January 30th. This too may herald significant commercial activity. With Mercury moving through Capricorn and close to the degree of this Full Moon, it could be that few banking chickens come home to roost as the full impact of decisions taken at this Full Moon are felt. At the very least, I anticipate increased volume of trade.
POLITICS
As I write, here in the UK, we are experiencing a winter of discontent with some people comparing this to that of November 1978- February 1979. It is more than a little interesting that
Uranus now opposes Uranus' position from that earlier time whilst the lunar node will shortly align with Chiron from that same period: echoes indeed - and, from an astrological perspective, entirely predictable.
The 'winter of discontent' ushered in an era of unprecedented political, economic and social change in Britain. In 2023, and with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto all changing signs within a short period (March 7th to May 17th), it is entirely reasonable to expect major development.
Across the pond, and despite numerous votes, the failure to elect a speaker has
dominated the news. Against the background of both Mercury and Mars retrograde this - like the pay negotiations in the UK - was never going to be easy. Again, we should look to the closing days of January for progress but also acknowledge that Pluto's return to its position in 1776, is coinciding with national introspection and power-struggle.
INVESTMENTS
So where can we invest in 2023? Until at least mid-May, and using traditional rules we would look to companies providing goods and services to those involved in military conflict. From Jupiter's arrival in Taurus in May we might consider companies involved in
re-build.
A major financial shift will surely be linked to the development of decentralised exchanges. To survive, banks will have to up their game. In the short term this will surely favour gold which should do well around the June solstice.
STOCK MARKET CRASH?
This is the big question. Certainly, today's Full Moon suggests that one is 'in the air'. I doubt that it will come until April and will be
exploring this possibility and investments in the class on January 22nd (email office@cityscopes.com) to register.
HEALTH
Chiron continues to oppose my Sun and caring for Michael dominates each day. Yet the planets move on. The most wonderful gesture from a client picked up my near-defeated mood the other day. Without you, readers and clients, we would not have made it this far. My heart-felt thanks to you all.
And so move on into 2023. I am looking forward to speaking about The Financial Universe in your birth chart in an event for
Synchronicity University on Saturday January 21st. (see link below)
Until next time,
Wishing you all well, healthy and content,
Yours from the stars
