May 21st FULL MOON LETTER

May 21st 2016

Dear Fellow Stargazers,

Happy Full Moon!

This Sun-Moon opposition coincides with the Sun’s opposition to Mars (at perigee and in hard aspect to Pluto) and Mercury’s direct station. These factors together suggested extreme stress to be felt at many different levels: from movement of the Earth’s crust (earthquakes recently recorded in Ecuador and in Australia), high temperatures (India) to fire-accident or terrorist activity.

The astro-geography for this Full Moon shows both the Mediterranean Sea (where the Egyptian plane went down) and the epicentre of the Australian earthquake affected by Pluto lines. It may be that we have not yet seen the last of major activity and potential destruction coinciding with this planetary configuration.

Let’s not though, lose sight of the possibility of positive events being recorded. As Venus opposes Mars next week, opposing forces could yet face one another and find common ground (as has happened in the UK already with conciliation found between junior doctors and the government).

Though it’s certainly true that historical analysis of any one of the applying aspects between now and early June suggests unpleasant activity (if not violence or, in market terms, serious loss), these aspects can also be viewed as turning points where actions lead to improvement.

MARKETS

That said, turmoil is to be expected this week: not least because of Mars’ position, but also linked to the apparent right-angle between Jupiter and Saturn. It is not at all uncommon for the latter (Last Quarter phase Wednesday May 26th)  to coincide with bank failure. For some time, my concern has been that the bond market could experience catastrophic failure (actually most likely in 2017). Whether or not there are signs of that happening this coming week, the mood of traders generally may well be negative in the coming days – reinforcing the old adage of ‘sell in May and go away’. If the expected downturn does materialise, it is unlikely that there will be improvement until after Venus’ arrival as an Evening Star on June 6th. This cosmic event could mark a buying opportunity.

Venus will then be in Gemini. So much emphasis on this sign (as per this and the next Full Moon together with Mercury’s status) points the cosmic finger at industries associated with that sign and its opposite, Sagittarius. Transport, communications, education, and the newspaper industry are likely vulnerable sectors.
The other Mutable signs, Virgo and Pisces – and related industries - should also be affected. That covers industries connected with precision-making tools, infra-structure, football, pharmaceuticals, and oil.
Such a long list of industries experiencing falling share price will surely impact on indices which could fall significantly.

FOREX

The Sun and the asteroid Vesta conjoin early next week with both opposing Mars suggesting a turbulent few days in the currency markets. The Euro could be affected but so too could South American countries where devaluation is a possibility. Nor should action by the Chinese be discounted. Whatever the driver, upset is probable with forex traders experiencing a difficult week as a result. As with equities, it is not until after the next New Moon (June 5th) before there are positive signals in operation.

POLITICS

Under present configurations, the potential for provoking tension is very high indeed. No-one is immune but those seeking high office should be particularly on their guard. Speech-writers may have already been affected. Present-day politicians and would-be presidential hopefuls could be seen as antagonistic: potentially sabotaging – even if only temporarily - their campaigns. Looking ahead, the early days of June look to be particularly testing – especially for those born under Gemini (includes Donald Trump and, in the UK< Boris Johnston).

It is reasonable to expect that the economy (in whatever country) will be headline news too. Figures announced during Mercury’s recent retrograde phase (since late April) may be found to be flawed and cash flow precarious. This could be as true for those people as for businesses and countries. The signs most likely affected are Gemini, Virgo and Scorpio – which covers Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Each may need to dig deep into financial reserves.
It’s just possible too – given the extraordinary coincidence of planetary cycles midweek, that the Sanders and Clinton camps will seek unification. Though perhaps not achievable – at least yet - energy could yet be put in this direction with possible consequences in August.

GEMINI NEW MOON AND VENUS, EVENING STAR

Next month’s Gemini New Moon is followed a day later by Venus’ arrival as an Evening Star. The Venus’ cycle completes an apparent pentagram formation over a period of 8 years with each point on this star accenting a particular sign: in this instance, Gemini. It would seem natural to assume that those born with the Sun in Gemini will find their lives particularly eventful.

Yet this confuses the Sun-sign with the Venus star sign – quite different. Those born with the Sun in Gemini could find this a particularly busy period. Those born under a Venus Gemini star could experience this in financial partnership terms with major events taking place (joint financial commitment perhaps).

On the global stage, and using this 8 year pulse, takes us back to 2008 and 2000:  years of dramatic trading activity. 2016 may well prove to be the same.

MORE

Articles on the US elections, outlook for various commodities, the Brexit vote and more will be published on the new website scheduled to launch before the next Full Moon letter. Migration of the new site to our server will begin on Monday. I am hopeful that this new material will be available after the New Moon (June 5th).
Meanwhile it’s back to client work and proof-reading the new book which will be available early autumn.

For now, wishing you all peace and friendship

Yours from the stars

Christeen
