Financial Universe: Full Moon letter

Published: Sun, 12/19/10

Dear Fellow Star-Gazer,

Welcome to the last Full Moon letter of 2010. There's much to report - not least of which are plans for 2011 which may well be related to upcoming celestial events.

I am writing this just ahead of Tuesday's Full Moon: also a lunar eclipse. This occurs just a few hours ahead of the solstice and two weeks before the first solar eclipse of 2011. To have both events take place on the same calendar date is rare. The last time this occurred was in 1638. From the astrologer's point of view, these eclipses have rather more in common with those of late 1991 - early 1992 however.

When a lunar eclipse occurs ahead of a solar, then there's greater reason to hope that habits can be broken and new ways forward found. It's no coincidence that periods of great drama have coincides with eclipses and probable that this time will be no exception.

As I write the UK seems almost brought to a halt by exceptional weather conditions. Flights are cancelled, motorists stuck in their cars overnight in some cases and train schedules disrupted. Some will put this down to the effect of Mercury retrograde and yes, this could be a factor.

The fact is that these weather conditions are exceptional is surely more attributable to disturbance on the solar cycle which is affecting weather patterns globally.

You may remember that in both the Financial Universe book (published 2004) and in subsequent letters, I had concern that the awesome planetary line-up in early August 2010 might coincide with world war. Though some areas of the world came to the brink during that period, thankfully there was no escalation.

The same is not true of what was happening on the Sun. To quote from the space weather site:

On August 1, 2010, an entire hemisphere of the sun erupted. Filaments of magnetism snapped and exploded, shock waves raced across the stellar surface, billion-ton clouds of hot gas billowed into space. Astronomers knew they had witnessed something big.

It was so big, it may have shattered old ideas about solar activity.

"The August 1st event really opened our eyes," says Karel Schrijver of Lockheed Martin's Solar and Astrophysics Lab in Palo Alto, CA. "We see that solar storms can be global events, playing out on scales we scarcely imagined before."

The Sun's normal cycle has not played out in this first decade of the millennium - which should be of concern to all. History shows that when the Sun's behaviour is 'abnormal', this is accompanied and followed by weather disturbance and eventually social and economic disruption.

Even without the banking crisis, economic chaos is threatened if there is even more disruption to the crop growing cycles. No doubt some businesses will not survive these stresses.

Returning to the present: Tuesday's lunar eclipse is similar to another that took place in 1991. A major difference of course is that at that time the Sun was apparently behaving 'normally' and Mercury was direct. The cosmos does not do repeats!

That said, there may be something we can learn from that earlier period. The Dow Jones index moved from 2934 at the lunar eclipse to 3201 at the solar. The important thing to note is the reaction between these two eclipses. It is reasonable to expect a similar roller coaster could be felt this time around - though perhaps not quite as dramatic and not starting until December 27th.

As you might expect, clients with planets at the end of Gemini/Sagittarius (the lunar eclipse degree) and the start of Cancer/Capricorn and around 13 Capricorn have already been in touch. It's not unusual for eclipse-effects to be felt ahead of time and since early November this group have been aware that their worlds will soon be subjected to upheaval.

I have one client who has been offered three different jobs with stage two interview of yet another job (and the one he would really like) yet to take place. He must give an answer to two of the three this Tuesday - the day of the lunar eclipse. Another client whose solar return coincides with the solar eclipse is aware that changes in his work place might not suit him. He too is looking to move on and discovering to his delight that his skill set is much in demand.

Back in the market-place, you may remember that I signalled the first weekend and early days of December for market drama. Despite bad employment figures from the US on Friday December 3rd and Mr Bernanke's announcement of further quantatitive easing, markets didn't 'fall over'. True, I had thought that the problems would come from the Far East, hitting western markets on the morning of December 6th. Though the Hang Seng fell 2%, western markets held. What was striking was the surge of 21 base points on the US 10yr Treasury note on Tuesday 7th, followed by a further 15 point rise the following day: continuing indication that all is not yet 'normal' in the financial world.

On January 4th - and coinciding with the solar eclipse - Jupiter and Uranus form a geocentric conjunction. Though true, Uranus is the planet of big surprises and a sharp decline could take place, it seems more likely that indices will move upward - particularly after Monday 27th when Venus is in perihelion and the Sun conjoins Pluto.

Obviously the outlook for 2011 is very much on my radar. I think I'm very clear about the following:

  • That there will be further sovereign debt crisis
  • That the value of the US dollar will plummet
  • That the Eurozone will be under pressure to break apart
  • That the Chinese will revalue their currency
  • That the value of precious metals will rise (after a short fall)
  • That the price of wheat, soya, corn, rye, sugar etc will rise
  • That emerging markets will do well
  • That inflation will be the year's big problem

Neptune moves into Pisces in 2011 as Uranus moves through the early degrees of Aries. These same planetary conditions held in 1848 - the so-called 'Year of Revolutions'.

The unrest already witnessed on the streets of many capital cities is likely to increase and may well mark the end of big government.

Just as some small companies are making their mark as the UK grapples with these peculiar weather conditions and the larger ones are suffering, so it may be that 2011 becomes a year of individual empowerment.

That brings us back to staying healthy and keeping well-informed. Your best investment is always in health and family - after that, everything is bonus!

My own chart is affected by these two eclipses. I feel to have felt the early effects of both though what the full outcome will be I can't say!

I sense that I am being taken full circle back to teaching. The Christmas/new Year period of 1991/2 was one of the happiest periods I ever enjoyed in this respect.

Following on from the conferences I've spoken at in 2010 and the recent webinar presentation, it may be that I really should do more along these lines in 2011. A second webinar for subscribers to the paid Universe letter will be held on December 30th. (To sign up for this service, please use the forms on www.financialuniverse.co.uk)

I intend to follow this with a 90 minute web-event at 16.00 GMT on Friday December 31st. To enjoy this, you will need to have some astrological understanding. The cost will be £30. You can book a place using the contact form on www.financialuniverse.co.uk. Post the event I will send the presentation with notes to attendees.

I wish you all good health in 2011 and look forward to continuing these letters.

For now,

Yours from the stars

Christeen
